Ruth McGilbery Foley

Ruth McGilbery Foley, aged 93, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on June 3, 2015. Ruth was a resident of Ocean Springs for over forty years, where she dedicated her life to raising her children and grandchildren with her husband, WWII veteran Albert L. Foley until his passing in 1994. She was a former member of the Ocean Springs Art Association and parent volunteer for the Ocean Springs school district, and an avid nature lover who enjoyed gardening, bird-watching and lazy southern afternoons on her back porch. She is preceded in death by her parents Angus and Gladys McGilbery, sister Mildred McGilbery Lumpkin, brother Kenneth McGilbery and daughter Cheryl Foley White. She leaves two sisters, Raye McGilbery Wise and Dorothy McGilbery Sowell Carlin both of Kirbyville, TX; two sons and their spouses, Roger Lee and Sabrina Foley of McKinney, TX; Kenneth Andrew and Cheri Foley of Ocean Springs, MS; five grandchildren including Sheila DiStefano and her husband John of Sacramento, CA; Brian Foley, Jason Foley, and Christie Fountain and her husband Jody Fountain, all of Ocean Springs, MS; Craig and wife Kayla Foley of Olympia, WA. She is also survived by ten great-grandchildren, Brandy Foley, Julie Foley, Joseph Fountain, Chazz DiStefano, Travis Foley, Noah Fountain, Brielle DiStefano, Hannah Foley, Levi Foley and Lennox Foley. Visitation will be held on Sunday, June 7, 2015 from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm and on Monday, June 8, 2015 from 10:00 am until 11:00 am followed by an 11:00 am funeral service all at the Ocean Springs Chapel of Bradford O’Keefe Funeral Home at 911 Porter Avenue in Ocean Springs. Interment will follow at Biloxi National Cemetery at 12:30pm.
