Mrs. Ruth Martino Hooper, 75, of D'Iberville, MS passed away Tuesday, February 15, 2005, in Biloxi. Mrs. Hooper was born in Biloxi on May 15, 1929 and has been a life long resident of Biloxi and D'Iberville, except for 3 1/2 years in Adana, Turkey and Altus, Oklahoma. She was a devoted homemaker and a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church.
Mrs. Hooper's many hobbies included cooking, baking, cake decorating, visiting with her many friends and family, and helping others. When Mardi Gras rolled around, you would always find her on the Biloxi and D'Iberville parade route. She also served as the past Queen of the 1988 Southernettes Carnival Ball.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Anthony Joseph and Lilly Lowanna Hightower Martino Sr., six brothers. Anthony J. Martino Jr., George N. Martino, Ralph J. Martino, Arnold L. Martino, Joseph A. Martino, and Eugene L. Martino, four sisters, Lena Francis Meyers, Lucy Lucinda Lyons, Claire C. Shankland, and Margaret F. Seymour.
Survivors include her husband of 31 years, William E. Hooper, one brother, Donald E. Martino of St. Martin, four sisters Althea L. Burkle and Lillian H. Jordan, both of Biloxi, Lillie Rose Seymour of D'Iberville, and Mary Lou Loyzelle of St. Martin, two daughters, Linda R. Patronas of D'Iberville and Trudy A. Gollott of Biloxi and one son, John Roy Moran of Alabama, four step-daughters, Denise K. Menke, Judith A. Cook, Wanda L. Brouman, and Cynthia L. Foley, all of Cincinnati, OH and step-son, William E. Hooper, Jr. of Papillion, NE, 13 grandchildren, 15 step grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, and 3 step great-grandchildren.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:45 on Tuesday, February 22, 2005 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, friends may call one hour prior to service.
