Ruth Mary Huls Hunt

Mrs. Ruth Mary Huls Hunt, 89, of Biloxi, died Wednesday, December 12, 2007, in Gulfport. Mrs. Hunt was born October 4, 1918, in Chicago, IL. She was a 1938 graduate of Biloxi High School and earned a degree at Morgan Park College. As a member of the First United Methodist Church of Biloxi, she served as Bible School Director and was a member of the Laura White Circle and Eastern Star. She taught at Biloxi Public Schools and volunteered her time to preserve the history of the community and schools. She was a lifetime member and past State President of the PTA and a Girl Scout Leader. Mrs. Hunt served as Executive Director of the Gulf Coast Carnival Association and was instrumental in establishing the Mardi Gras Museum. An independent, strong woman, she was honest, caring and sincere in her efforts to develop self worth and encourage young people. She believed in God, country, and family and left a memorable impression on all she touched. She was a grand woman who devoted her life to young people and community. Mrs. Hunt was preceded in death by her husband, Walter Kenner "Skeet" Hunt, and parents, Clarence and Catherine Huls. Survivors include her daughters, Susan Hunt, Martha Hunt Tripp and her husband Jay; grandson, William Kenner Kiser; great-granddaughters, Allison and Jessica Kiser, brother, William "Bill" Huls, Sr.; niece, Jane Huls Ward; nephews, Bill Huls, Jr., John Huls, Robert Huls, and grandniece, Catherine Huls Ward. Funeral services will be held Monday, December 17, 2007, at 11 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church in Biloxi where friends may visit from 9 a.m. until service time. Interment will follow in Southern Memorial Park. Bradford-O'Keefe Funeral Home, Howard Avenue, in Biloxi is in charge of arrangements.
