Sally Rita McMurtray D'Andrea

Mrs. Sally Rita McMurtray D'Andrea, age 91, of Ocean Springs, MS, passed away on Thursday, August 20, 2015, in Gulf Hills. Mrs. D'Andrea was born and raised in Yazoo City, MS. She met and married her husband at Keesler AFB when he was serving in the Army Air Corps. They moved to New Jersey and when he retired they moved back to Mississippi. Mrs D'Andrea was a member of the Hibernia Marching Society, the Red Hats Society, the Shamrocks Club and the Italian American Club. She was a stay at home mother who loved gardening and sewing. In her later years, she enjoyed the company of her good friends "The Shamrocks" who gathered regularly to celebrate birthdays and friendships. Mrs. D'Andrea was a member of St. Alphonsus Catholic Church and one of ten children born to her parents, Myrtle Dora McMurtray and James McMurtray. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Louis D'Andrea, sisters, Sela McMurtray, Charlotte Byrd, Nell Bauman, Marie Sikora and Kathy Thacker and brothers, James McMurtray and Ben McMurtray. Survivors include her children, Lisa Dalton, Rose (Anthony) Maccio and Jim (Donna) D'Andrea, sister, Annie Lee Catchot, brother, Wayne McMurtray, seven grandchildren, Christina, Breanne, Bradley, Elena, Kathy, Tony and Scott and two great-grandchildren, Zack and Sarah. Visitation will be on Tuesday, August 25, from 6 pm - 8 pm, 7:30 pm Rosary, all at the Ocean Springs Chapel of Bradford O'Keefe Funeral Home. On Wednesday, August 26, there will be an 11 am Mass of Christian Burial at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church. Burial will follow in Biloxi National Cemetery. The Ocean Springs Chapel of Bradford O'Keefe Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
