Sammie Joe Hodges, Jr, age 52, a native of Jackson, MS and a resident of Gulfport, MS for the past 19 years, was called home by the Lord on Thursday, November 12, 2015. He was the beloved husband of Lisa Lynn Feliu; loving father of Zachary, Michael, Emma and Eli; the son of the late Sammie Joe Hodges Sr. from Forest, MS and the late Rebecca Boulanger’ Hodges from Carthage, MS; and brother to Michael Knight, David Knight (Jodie), Beverly Knight, Alyce Knight and the late Amanda “Missy” Cleveland. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
He proudly served our country in the U.S. Air Force for 22 years retiring as a Master Sergeant from Keesler Air Force Base. During his time at Keesler, he obtained a Bachelor’s degree from William Carey College.
He will be remembered for his love of family, the outdoors especially hunting & fishing and his willingness to help anyone in need. Sammie was a member of the Combat Veterans Motorcycle Association and was actively involved in the Long Beach School and Sports League with his children, Emma and Eli.
Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the visitation on Monday, November 16, 2015 at Bradford-O’Keefe Funeral Home located at 1726 15th Street, Gulfport from 11am until 1pm with a Catholic Service with Rites of Christian Burial at 1pm. Interment will follow at Biloxi National Cemetery, 400 Veterans Ave, Biloxi.
