Sammie Orr

Sammie Orr, age 76 went to be with our Lord and Savior on Tuesday, February 28, 2023 in Biloxi, MS surrounded by his family. 

Sammie was born on September 5, 1946 in Mobile, AL. He was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Woolmarket, MS.  

His Catholic faith was very important and dear to him. He was very proud that he was a huge part of the building of the new church for St. Mary of Woolmarket. He and his best friend Ray Borries, would be there every day “managing” things needed to be done.

He was also a lifelong supporter and follower of d’Iberville Warrior football, having played for the Warriors during Buddy Singleton’s first year as the Warriors Head Coach.

He is preceded in death by his wife of 56 years, Jeanne Carmel Beaugez Orr; and his parents, Robert Steed Orr and Mabel Beryl Ramsey Orr. 

Sammie is survived by his son, Andy Orr of Biloxi; his daughters, Kellie (Danny) Boudreaux of Biloxi, Amy (Jay) Helffrich of Biloxi and Gina Felton of Biloxi; his grandchildren, Danny (Haley) Boudreaux of Biloxi, Drew (Brooke) Boudreaux of Brandon, Siera (Jaylin Christian) and Sammie Felton of Biloxi and DJ Helffrich of Biloxi; his great-granddaughters, Eliza and Lottie; brothers Billy (Sandy) Orr, Dean Orr of Biloxi, Tommy Orr of Vancleave, Judy (Otie) Bosarge and Bill Raymand of Biloxi; and numerous nephews, nieces, cousins and friends who he thought of as family; and his special canine companion, Beau. 

The family would like to thank the company Gentiva Hospice, for their love, compassion and care of our daddy; especially, Brittney, Kelly, Chris and Liz.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Mary Catholic Church in Biloxi, MS on Thursday, March 2, 2023 at 12:00 pm. Friends may visit from 10:00 am until Mass time.  Interment will follow at William Seymour Cemetery in St. Martin, MS. A reception will be held at St. Mary Parish Hall immediately after the interment.
