Samuel Jefferson Tindell, 88, of Gulfport, MS died on Wednesday, June 3, 2009 in Biloxi. Mr. Tindell was born in 1920 and raised in Holmes County, FL where he met his future wife of 67 years, Mrs. Eunice B. Tindell. He joined the Navy in 1942 and served through WW II. Mr. & Mrs. Tindell settled in Biloxi and he began a career with MS Power where he retired in 1982. Mr. Tindell was a member and past Grand Master of the Magnolia Masonic Lodge and also a member of the Shriner's in Biloxi. He was a lifetime member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW). He was a member of East Howard Avenue Baptist Church.
Mr. Tindell is preceded in death by his wife, Eunice B. Tindell; daughter, Patricia Tindell Hinton; son Sidney James Tindell and a granddaughter, Kimberly Hinton St. Clair.
He is survived by one brother, Paul Tindel of Wiggins, MS; two sisters, Betty Brock of Defuinak Springs, FL and Mozelle Bridenback of Tampa, FL; two grandsons, Sean (Claire) Tindell of Gulfport, MS, Donald E. (Amy) Hinton of Hattiesburg, MS; five great-grandchildren, Savannah and Bayley St. Clair both of Mobile, AL, Madeline and Beau Hinton of Hattiesburg, MS, Samuel Joseph Tindell of Gulfport, MS.
In lieu of flowers the family prefers memorials to: Joppa Shrine Center, 13280 New Hwy. 67, Biloxi, MS 39532.
Funeral Services will be held on Friday, June 5, 2009 at 11:30 am at the Pass Road Chapel of Bradford-O'Keefe Funeral Home, West Biloxi. Friends may visit from 10:30 am until 11:30 am. Burial will follow in Biloxi National Cemetery.
