Sandra "Sandy" Calvert

Sandra “Sandy” Calvert, 74, of Biloxi, Mississippi, passed away peacefully at home on February 21, 2025. Born on September 28, 1950, at Biloxi Regional Hospital in Biloxi, Mississippi, Sandra lived a life defined by quiet strength, warmth, and a deep devotion to her family.

Sandra graduated from Biloxi High School in 1968, a proud moment that marked the start of her vibrant journey. She met the love of her life Gerald Calvert and the two spent a decade together. The couple then married on April 8, 2000 and continued to build a life together filled with love. She was a devoted mother to her four children, raising them with resilience and care. Sandra found joy in sewing, her needle threading memories into every stitch, and in traveling, exploring new places with a curious heart. Most of all, she cherished time with loved ones, turning gatherings into treasures of laughter and connection. Known for spreading love and kindness, Sandra’s presence touched everyone around her.

She is survived by her husband, Gerald Calvert; her two daughters, Melissa Williams (Andrew) and Amy Williams (Douglas); fourteen grandchildren, Jeremy Tindol, Jacob Tindol, Jonathan Tindol, Christian Moore, Alexis Williams, Pamela Fortner, Shelby Moore, Savannah Cox (Michael), Susie Williams, Laura Williams, Andrew Williams II., Harry Cummings, Mariah Moore, and Charmaine Stapleton; three great-grandchildren, Ava Fortner, Olivia Moore, and Eloise Moore; her brothers, Frank Fortner and John Fortner (Jackie); her brother-in-law, Larry Hebert; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her son, Ricky Moore; her daughter, Laura Stapleton; her parents, Doris Fortner and William Fortner; her brothers, Randall Fortner and William (Billy) Fortner Jr., and her sister, Carol Hebert.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to Saad Hospice and Dr. Andrew Peterson for the love and care they provided, and to Sandra’s caregiver and friend, Mamie Salter, for her unwavering support.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, February 27, 2025, from 10:30 AM to 11:30 AM for friends at Bradford-O’Keefe Funeral Home, Howard Avenue in Biloxi, Mississippi. A funeral service will follow at 11:30 AM, with burial at Biloxi National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hurley Methodist Church.

Sandra’s love endures in her family and all who knew her. She will be deeply missed.
