Sarah Jane Bates Green

Mrs. Sarah Jane Bates Green, age 86, passed away on Thursday, March 30, 2017. Mrs. Green was born April 26, 1930 in Selma, AL. She graduated from Parrish High School in Selma, AL and Judson College in Marion, AL. Mrs. Green retired as a financial secretary from First United Methodist Church in Panama City, FL. She loved water activities, reading, music and spending time with her family. She was preceded in death by her husband, J. Berkley Green; parents, Mr. James Arthur Bates, Sr. and Elizabeth Carter Bates; and brother, Mr. James A. Bates, Jr. She is survived by her children, Jackie Green (Dennis) Bryant and Mary Green (Chuck) Rosonet; 7 grandchildren; and 7 great grandchildren. The family would like to extend a special thanks to First Baptist Church of Biloxi, the staff at Bay Cove Memory Care and Norte Dame Hospice for their loving support during this time. In lieu of flowers the family prefers memorials to be made to Juvenile Diabetes, JDRF, 26 Broadway, 14th Floor, New York, NY 10004. Service will be held at the Pass Road Chapel of Bradford-O’Keefe Funeral Home on Monday, April 3, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. with Rev. Smokey Gibson officiating. Friends are invited to visit from 11:30 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. Interment will follow service at Biloxi City Cemetery.
