Scotty Duane Dean

Scotty Duane Dean, 63 of Ocean Springs, MS passed away on June 20, 2024.

He was born on June 30, 1960 in Kenner, Louisiana to Kermit and Myrtie Dean. He attended Alfred Bannabel Magnet Academy High School. He served in the Army from 1986 to 1999. He retired in 1999 as a Sargeant. During his service in the Army, he was awarded the Army Commendation Medal, Good Conduct Medal, Southeast Asia Service Medal with two bronze stars, Army Achievement Medal, and National Defense Medal. In 1992, he was stationed in Germany, Korea. He served in Operation Desert Storm and took great pride in his services. He worked in security at the Isle of Capri Casino for thirteen years.

Scotty always had a joke to tell even in his worst time. He excelled in art. He specialized in pencil sketches, has sketched realistic portraits that he has even profiled off of, and used some ink. Scotty and his wife, Kelly, never ran out of things to talk about. He was a true believer of God and would read two chapters of the bible daily.

He easily made friends with nearly everybody he’d meet due to his charisma and effervescent personality. His most outstanding traits were his big cheesy smile and his corny dad jokes which he would repeat from time to time. His jokes would often be accompanied by an obnoxiously jocular giggle. His soul is in heavenly peace at last where he will walk alongside our Heavenly Father for all eternity.

Scotty was preceded in death by his parents, Kermit and Myrtie Dean; and siblings, Sharon Dean and Robert Dean.

He is survived by his wife, Kelly Moses Dean of Ocean Springs, MS; daughter, Lindsey Dean of Ocean Springs, MS; siblings, Ray Dean of Minneola, TX and Roger Dean of Ponchatoula, LA; and pets, Chewy, Bambi, Trooper, Daniel, Russel, Blinky, and Mini.

The family would like to thank the VA Medical Center for providing exceptional, compassionate care.

A memorial service will be held at 10:00am on Friday, June 28, 2024 at Bradford-O’Keefe Funeral Home, Ocean Springs, MS. Friends may visit one hour prior. Burial will follow at Biloxi National Cemetery.
