SCPO Steven (Steve) Michael Gibbons

SCPO Steven (Steve) Michael Gibbons, US Navy retired, aged 68, of Gulfport, passed away on Friday, October 8, 2021. He was born on January 10, 1953 in Oneonta, New York to his parents, Tom and Marion Gibbons. Steven attended Geneva High School. He attended Brockport on a swimming scholarship. He also attended Tampa and graduated from USM. He served in the United States Navy as Senior Chief Petty Officer, Electronics Technician and for the Submarine Service. He was awarded three Navy Achievement Medals, and two Navy Commendation Medals. Steven was an avid Saints fan and season ticket holder. He was a runner and finished the Marine Corps Marathon in Washington, D.C. He enjoyed swimming, stain glass, and reading. Steven helped with the Special Olympics at Stennis Space Center. He participated in the National Senior Olympics and Mississippi State Games. He is preceded in death by his parents, Tom and Marion Gibbons. Steven is survived by his wife, Judy Gibbons; his children, Katie Gibbons, Sean Gibbons, Ryan (Dannah) Gibbons, his grandchildren, Zoey Gibbons, Brody Gibbons, and Brinley Gibbons; and his siblings, Susan (John) Maginn, and Richard (Patti) Gibbons. The family wishes to thank the many caregivers at Keesler Medical Center and Ochsner Medical Center. Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 14, 2021 at Bradford-O’Keefe Funeral Home, 1726 15th Street, Gulfport, MS from 5:00 pm to 6:00 PM, with the Funeral Service to follow at 6:00 PM. Interment will be held at Biloxi National Cemetery with Military Honors on Friday, October 15, 2021 at 11:00 AM. Bradford-O'Keefe Funeral Home is honored to serve the Gibbons Family.
