Seth Murphy Capers, age 72, passed away peacefully at his home in Saucier, MS, on December 4, 2011, surrounded by his family and friends. Murphy was born on September 8, 1939, in Gulfport, MS. He was a life-long resident of the Mississippi Gulf Coast.
Murphy was a faithful member of the New Covenant Church in Saucier, MS. He was a master brick mason and spent his life building homes and public and commercial buildings all over the Mississippi Coast and beyond for over 50 years. He was an innovator who constantly improved the methods and equipment used in his trade and is the proud holder of two United States Patents. He enjoyed all forms of motorsports, but his greatest joy was spending time with his family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, Harry Capers, mother, Evelyn Dickens, and stepfather, Jack Dickens.
He is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Patsy Capers; sons, Murph and Elaine Capers, Kevin Capers, Marty and Brandy Capers; daughter, Patti Capers and Wayne Fountain; and 10 grandchildren. He is also survived by three brothers, Joel (Carla) Capers, Gabriel (Patsy) Dickens, Harold (Jo) Dickens, and many nieces and nephews.
The family would like to express sincere appreciation to our large extended family and friends for their prayers and support. We would also like to thank Dr. Tuli and her associates, and Canon Hospice for their compassionate care.
Visitation will be held Thursday, December 8, 2011, from 10:00 a.m. to noon, with a 12:00 p.m. chapel service, at Bradford-O’Keefe Funeral Home, 15452 O’Neal Rd, Gulfport, MS. Interment will follow at Allen Cemetery in Long Beach, MS
