Sgt. 1st Class Glen Lawrence Holcomb “Bud“, 57, of Vancleave, MS, formerly of Minden, LA., passed away after a long battle with cancer on October 30, 2013, wrapped in his loving wife’s arms. Born on February 26, 1957 in Minden, LA, he was the beloved son of Ila Victoria Martin and Glen Holcomb, Jr.
Glen was a US Army Active Duty Soldier stationed in Huntsville, AL. He enlisted in the Marine Corp in January 1975. After a break in service, he joined the Army National Guard in March of 1994, having been stationed at Dobbins Air Force Base in Marietta, Georgia, and Camp Minden in Louisiana. He went active duty at Ft. Polk in Louisiana, Fort Sam Houston in San Antonio and presently in Huntsville, AL. He had tours of duty in Panama, Grenada, Belize, Central America and Iraq. Glen served 33 years in the military. He received the (2)Army Commendation Medal, (4)Army Achievement Medal , (2)Army Good conduct Medal, (4)Army Reserve Components Achievement Medal, (2)National Defense Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Humanitarian Service Medal, Armed Forces Reserve Medal with Mobilization Device with Silver Hourglass, Army Service Ribbon, (3)Overseas Service Ribbon, Louisiana War Cross, Louisiana Emergency Service Ribbon, (4) Louisiana General Excellence Ribbon, (3)Louisiana Longevity Ribbon, Meritorious Service Medal (Posthumous). Glen was a graduate of Biloxi High School in 1975. He was our hero and a man of honor and courage who was never afraid when his country called him to duty.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ila Victoria Martin and Glen Holcomb, Jr.; maternal grandfather, George Lawrence Martin; maternal grandmother, Pearl Dorthula Clawson; paternal grandparents, General Glen and Mattie Dillard Holcomb; and dear friend, David Walker.
He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of twenty two years, Regina Rebecca Holcomb; six sons, Glen Holcomb II of Minden, LA, Michael Holcomb and wife Rebecca of Elizabeth, CO, Joshua Holcomb of Vancleave, MS, Dakotah Holcomb and wife Brandy of Ocean Springs, MS, Robert (Robbie) Holcomb and Jamarius (JJ) Holcomb both of Vancleave, MS; four daughters, Sarah Holcomb, Ariel Holcomb and Amya Holcomb, all of Vancleave, MS and Katrina Trosclair of Korea; two sisters, Gloria Sullivan and husband Johnny of Minden, LA.; and Sharon Watts and husband Danny of Lucedale, MS; four grandchildren, Tatum, Mekayla, Arial, and Kamrin, who will greatly miss their beloved PaPaw; his in-laws, Lonnie Lee and Geraldine Waltman of Vancleave, MS. He leaves behind to cherish his memory, a host of in-laws, nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews and many family and friends. Glen lived his life for his family. Those who knew him will never forget his sense of humor. He loved to pick and tease those he loved.

Visitation will be held at the Ocean Springs Chapel of Bradford O’Keefe Funeral Home from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 31, 2013. Funeral services will be conducted to celebrate the life of SFC Glen L. Holcomb at the Vancleave Holiness Church, in Vancleave, Ms on Friday, November 1, 2013 at 10:30 a.m., with Rev. Aaron Alexander officiating. Friends may visit with the family thirty minutes prior to the services. Interment with Full Military Honors will follow at Vancleave Holiness Cemetery.
