Shannon Farris Gottschalk, age 44, of Pass Christian, MS, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, July 2, 2024, at home surrounded by loved ones.
She graduated from the University of Southern Mississippi with a degree in Special Education. Shannon began her career at Bel-Aire Elementary School, dedicating herself to supporting students with special needs and making a positive impact on their lives. After gaining valuable experience, Shannon pursued her Master’s degree in Psychometry, enhancing her ability to assess and understand educational needs. She later excelled in her role at Pineville Elementary School.
Outside of her professional life, Shannon cherished spending time with her family, especially enjoying moments on the boat together. She valued these moments of relaxation and connection, creating lasting memories with her loved ones.
Shannon is survived by her beloved husband, Jon Gottschalk, who was her partner and support throughout their journey together. She was a devoted mother to her children, Hunter, Emily, and Easton, whom she loved dearly and supported wholeheartedly in all their endeavors. Shannon is also survived by her mother, Betsy Farris; brother, Loren Farris (Afton); and sister, Hallie Jones (Brandon). Additionally, Shannon is survived by three nephews and one niece, who brought joy to her life and whom she loved dearly.
Shannon was preceded in death by her father, Guy Farris, whose strong work ethic inspired Shannon throughout her life journey. She was also preceded by her loving grandmother, Margaret Simmons, whose wisdom and kindness shaped Shannon’s values and character, and her grandmother, Ruthea Currie.
A visitation to celebrate Shannon Gottschalk’s life will be held on Sunday, July 7, 2024 from 12:30 PM to 1:30 PM, followed by a memorial service at 1:30 PM at St. Peter’s By-The-Sea in Gulfport, MS. All friends, colleagues, and acquaintances are welcome to attend and pay their respects. Bradford-O’Keefe Funeral Home, 15th Street, Gulfport is honored to serve the Gottschalk family.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital. Contributions can be made online at www.stjude.org.
