Shirley Mae Legendre Foecke

Shirley Mae Legendre Foecke, 90, passed from her earthly life Friday June 24, 2022, in Augusta, GA, in the presence of her daughters. Preceded in death by her beloved husband Ralph, and grandsons Patrick Foecke and John David Kitchens, she lived a joyous life filled with travel and new adventures.

Born in New Orleans, LA, she found the love of her life on a weekend trip to the Mississippi Gulf Coast in 1960. She and Ralph traveled extensively, first because of Ralph’s time in the Air Force, and after retirement becoming full-time RVers for over 10 years. Even a breast cancer diagnosis couldn’t slow her down, and she became a survivor with her usual humor and determination. After Katrina, she and Ralph moved to the Villa Maria in Ocean Springs, MS, but they continued their travels around the country, including a six-week tour of Alaska, and as many cruises as she could schedule. She loved going to the casinos, with the buffets and penny slots, especially with her friend Bonnie Hendricks.

She is survived by her daughters Catherine (Jerry) Park, of Greenville, NC, and Lisa (Johnny) Kitchens of Thomson, GA, and a son Keith (Kim) of Bellingham, WA, granddaughter Tasha and her children, granddaughter Susan Kitchens, and great-grandson Johnathan Kitchens, plus numerous nieces, and nephews.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, July 5, 2022 at Bradford-O’Keefe Funeral Home on Porter Avenue in Ocean Springs, from 10:00 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 12:00 p.m. at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church. Interment will be held at Biloxi National Cemetery at 1:00 p.m.
