Shirley Jeanette Slaton Tyler of Ocean Springs, MS, passed away on October 2, 2017 surrounded by family and friends. She lived 82 wonderful years loving everyone she met and being loved by everyone who had the opportunity to know her. She married Hugh, the love of her life, on August 15, 1953 and they lived a life full of experiences, making memories that they have shared with family and friends. She was a talented artist who painted because she loved it. She painted scenery from their travels and of flowers that she loved. She has left her legacy for her family and friends who will remember her by seeing God’s creation through her eyes.
Shirley is preceded in death by her father, John Benjamin Slaton; mother, Mary Archie Slaton; daughters, Cheryl Diane Ezell and Patricia Helen Ramsey; and granddaughter, Brandi Nelson.
Shirley is survived by her husband, Hugh Tyler of Ocean Springs, MS; daughter, Mary Tyler of Quincy, MA; her grandson, David (Kristen) Ezell and great-grandchildren, Elliana and Ethan) of Suwanee, GA; granddaughters, Stephanie Ramsey of Ada, OK and Lindsay Ezell of Birmingham, AL. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews and loving friends.
The visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 4, 2017 from 6pm until 8pm with services being held on Thursday, October 5, 2017 at 1pm all at Bradford – O’ Keefe Funeral Home in Ocean Springs, MS. Graveside service will be held following the service at Biloxi National Cemetery.
