Shirley Vera Rainey

Shirley Rainey, age 100, of Ocean Springs, passed away on Monday, September 22, 2008 in Ocean Springs. Mrs. Rainey had been a resident of the Coast for 51 years. She loved gardening, quilting, cooking and crocheting. She was a member of Bellhaven Baptist Church, was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother. Shirley was preceded in death by her husband, Archie Rainey of nineteen years; her parents, James and Nancy Jane Law; daughters, Judy Rainey and Dorothy White; son, Randy Strebeck; sister, Nora Patterson and by her six brothers. Survivors include her daughters, Roberta (Joe) Redin of Gadsden, AL and Lilly (Conrad) Huffman of Jamestown, NC; her sons, Joe (Pamela) Rainey of Ocean Springs and Thurman (Sue) Rainey of Comanche, TX along with twenty grandchildren, twenty five great-grandchildren and fourteen great-great-grandchildren. Visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, September 23, 2008 at the Ocean Springs Chapel of Bradford-O'Keefe Funeral Homes. Funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, September 24, 2008 in the chapel of the funeral home. Interment will follow at Belle Fountain Baptist Church Cemetery in Ocean Springs.
