Sidney F. Malpass, Sr., 89, of Biloxi, MS passed away on Wednesday, April 2, 2008 in Biloxi. Mr. Malpass was known as "the man with the cows on Popps Ferry Road". He was a lifetime farmer. He was featured in the Sun Herald ten years ago for his love and commitment to farming. He also was a supervisor rigger at Litton for thirty years. He had a dairy on Popps Ferry in the 1950's. He was married to former Wilda Justina Dunn of Biloxi for 61 years. They lived on Popps Ferry Road since the 1940's when it was a shell road. He loved gardening, where he grew and sold his own vegetables. He served his country in the 1940's during WW II in the Navy. He enjoyed the outdoors and farming, especially his cows.
Mr. Malpass was preceded in death by his wife of 61 years, Wilda Dunn Malpass; two sisters and one brother.
He is survived by two sons, Edward W. Malpass (Shay) of Gulfport, MS and Sidney F. Malpass, Jr., (Lynda) of Biloxi, MS; two sisters, Ollie Kernman of Biloxi, MS and Edna Scarbrough of Minn.; five grandchildren, Kevyn Malpass, Hattiesburg, MS, Stefanie Malpass-Cummings, Lawton, OK, Shayne Malpass, Biloxi, MS, Sean Malpass, Gulfport, MS and Justin Malpass, Gulfport, MS; two great-grandchildren, Jordyn Cummings and Savannah Cummings both of Lawton, OK.
Visitation will be held on Monday, April 7, 2008 from 11:00 am until 12:15 pm at the Pass Road Chapel of Bradford-O'Keefe Funeral Home. Graveside services; 12:30pm, Biloxi National Cemetery.
