Sondra Lee Bruno

Sondra Lee “Sandy” Bruno, age 86, passed away Friday, August 2, 2024. She had been a resident of the Mississippi Gulf Coast since 1969. Sandy was born in Berkeley, California in 1938. She graduated from Berkeley High School. While living there, she met and married the love of her life, Dave Bruno. The family lived in California until moving to Ocean Springs in 1969. Sandy and Dave were married until his passing in 2020. Sandy was an active member of the Ocean Springs High School Football boosters club in the 70s and enjoyed following her children and grandchildren in all their activities. She also worked as a loan officer for many years at Depositors Savings. Sandy loved to cheer for her LSU Tigers and New Orleans Saints.

Sandy is preceded in death by her husband, Dave Bruno; her mother, Mildred Coffey; and her father, Alfred Coffey.

She will be lovingly remembered by her sons, Mike Bruno (Mendy) and Jeff Bruno (Dee Dee); “Gema” will also be remembered by her grandchildren, Ria Bruno, Michael Bruno (Brandi), and Dr. Lyndsey Bruno (Dr. Patrick McLaren); great grandchildren, Rhett Pitalo, Mack Fuller, AnnaLee Bruno, and Maelynn Bruno; sister, Brianne Granholt; and by several nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital on Sandy’s behalf. The family would like to extend heartfelt appreciation to all the caregivers at Hospice of Light and Comfort Keepers.

Family and friends are invited to visit from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. followed by a service at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, August 8, 2024 at Bradford O’Keefe Funeral Home in Ocean Springs. Interment will follow immediately at Crestlawn Memorial Park.
