Stanford “Duke” Bang, 74, of Vancleave, MS, died Thursday, August 1, 2013 in Vancleave.
Mr. Bang was born July 3, 1939 in Jackson County, MS. He worked for 28 years at Ingalls Shipbuilding in Pascagoula. Mr. Bang’s passions in life were hunting, fishing and gardening. He was a faithful member of The Vancleave Holiness Church.
Mr. Bang is preceded in death by his first wife, Caroline Dobbs Bang; his parents, Babe and Lula Bang; his brothers, Stallworth Bang, Worthen Bang, Earl Bang and Namon Bang, all of Vancleave, MS; and his sister, Valley “Sug” Bang.
Survivors include his loving wife of twenty years; Glenda Bang; his son, Donnie Bang of Vancleave; his daughters, Tammy Holloway of Missouri and Paula Tucker of Ft. Walton, FL; his stepson, Mark Heft of Charleston; his stepdaughter, Cynthia Chastain of Paris, AR; his brothers, Sam Bang, Bud (Kathy) Bang, both of Vancleave and Booster Bang of Biloxi; his sisters, Ola Mae Waltman, Patty Williams, Shirley White and Myrtle Waltman, all of Vancleave, and Annie (Jack) Covacevich, of Ocean Springs; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; three godchildren; a host of nieces and nephews; and a special niece, Adrienne Ely, his “angel”.
Pall bearers will be Lynn Ely, Lee Taylor, Rick Ely, Scott Bigot, Brad Ladner, Chad Ladner, Trenton Ladner, Shane Nelson and Ronald Waltman.
Donations may be made to the building fund for Vancleave Holiness Church.
Visitation will be held at the Ocean Springs Chapel of Bradford-O’Keefe Funeral Home on Sunday, August 4, 2013 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Funeral Services will be held at the Vancleave Holiness Church on Monday, August 5, 2013 at 12:00 p.m. Friends may visit from 10:00 a.m. until service time. Interment will follow at Vancleave Holiness Church Cemetery.
