Stephen Lee Howell, a long-time resident of Ocean Springs, died at his home on April 1, 2017. A native of Biloxi, he was born on August 21, 1942.
Mr. Howell was a graduate of Biloxi High School in 1960. After serving four years in the US Navy, he was an employee of Ingalls Shipyard in Pascagoula for thirty-three years.
Mr. Howell was an avid fisherman and gardener who loved to share his catch and his wine with family and friends.
Mr. Howell was the son of Amel Howell and Irene Entrekin Howell of Biloxi. The fourth of six children, he was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Donald A. Howell, and his sister Emelda Howell Britvec.
He is survived by his children: Stephen (Tammy) Howell, Ellen (John) DePineuil, Jeannie (Steve) Scaturro, and Julie Howell; his grandchildren: Melissa Howell, Katie Howell, Aubrey DePineuil, Cody Conyers, Christian Conyers, and Olivia Tripp; and great-grandchildren: Peyton Steinwinder and Caroline Peresich. He is also survived by two step-children: Wynnee Parker and Jay (Terri) Parker. Mr. Howell’s surviving sweetheart is Ms. Anne Arnold.
Mr. Howell is also survived by his brother Walter (Ann) Howell of Clinton, MS, Mrs. Linda Kennedy of Spanish Fort, Al, and Mrs. Patricia (Richard) Breslin of Biloxi.
Funeral services will be on Thursday, April 6, 2017 at 1:00 pm at the Bradford-O’Keefe Funeral Home on Howard Ave. in Biloxi, with visitation starting at 12 pm. Interment with military honors will follow at Biloxi National Cemetery in Biloxi. Rev. Pounders of the First United Methodist Church of Biloxi will officiate.
