Steve Julius Thian, 91, of Biloxi, died on Thursday, December 8, 2011.
Mr. Thian was a lifelong resident of Biloxi, a 1939 Graduate of Biloxi High School. He was the owner and operator of Steve’s Grocery on Claiborne Street. He retired from the US Post Office. He was a veteran of WWII, US Navy Submarine Service. He was a longtime member of Slavic Benevolent Association of the St. Nickoli, St Michael’s Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus Council 1244, Biloxi Elks Lodge # 606, VFW, and the Paralyzed Veterans of America. Steve was a Croation descendant who loved holidays, especially Christmas. He would deliver mail all day, come home decorate their home, cook most the dinner (oyster dressing) and Pusharatas - then sing, dance and serenade. Last week Our Lord helped him finish this year's decorating.
He is preceded in death by loving and devoted wife of 69 years Mary Frances Zorich; his parents, Anthony Thian and Mary Consetta Bonocich Thian; three sisters, Ola Drouant, Josephine Mazurette and Mary Gilham.
He is survived by his son, Stephen Anthony Thian two daughters, Dianne Thian Ott (Albert), Cynthia Thian Kennedy (Mike); ; two grandsons, Albert Jacob Ott Jr. (Tina), Edwin Steve Ott (Whitney) a great grandson, Jacob Evan Ott and great granddaughter, Morgan Bell.
Funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday, December 13, 2011 at St. Michael’s Catholic Church at 11:00a.m. where friends may visit from 10:00a.m. until service time. Interment will follow at Southern Memorial Park in Biloxi.
In lieu of flowers the family prefers that donations to be made to the Retired Priest's Home Fund at Our Lady of Fatima and the Building Fund of St. Michael's Catholic Church, Biloxi
