Stratigo Vlahos

Stratigo Koniditsiotis Vlahos, born October 23, 1912 in Sparta, Greece, lived in Biloxi, Mississippi for 70 years, prior to Katrina and was a proud citizen of the United States. She passed away peacefully at the age of 95, at the Mobile Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Mobile, Alabama, on Wednesday, August 13, 2008. She was the beloved wife for 53 years of the late Nicholas Theodore Vlahos, a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and aunt. She will be greatly missed by her family. Mrs. Vlahos was a founding member of the Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church in Biloxi and the ladies auxiliary, the Ladies of Agape. During her children's school days, she was an active home room mother and PTA member. She was a community volunteer for the Easter Seal drive for many years. Mrs. Vlahos' family would like to express their sincere gratitude to the Quality Home Health Care of Biloxi, the Mobile Nursing and Rehabilitation Center and especially her devoted caregivers for the past three years. Survivors include her children: Mary (Chris) Kontos, Katherine (Mike) Economos, Demetri Vlahos, Kosta (Kally) Vlahos and Photine Vlahos; nine grandchildren: Joanne Byrne, Katherine Tadros, Michael Kontos, Olga Grant, Nicholas Economos, Peter Economos, Nicholas Vlahos, Stacey Vlahos, Anthony Vlahos and twelve great-grandchildren. Funeral Services will be held 11:00a.m. on Saturday, August 16, 2008 at Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church on Beauvoir Road, in Biloxi where friends may visit from 9:30a.m. to 11:00a.m. Burial will follow at Southern Memorial Park in Biloxi. Bradford-O'Keefe Funeral Homes, Howard Avenue, Biloxi is in charge of arrangements.
