Susan Lynn Barrett

d. August 2, 2022

Gulfport

Susan Lynn Barrett was born June 2, 1961 in Las Vegas, NV and was granted her angel wings on August 2, 2022 in Gulfport, MS. Her final days were spent with her loving family who will miss her forever. Susan touched many lives in both small and big ways. She will always be remembered for her strong Christian faith, her love and affection for all children and animals, her intelligence, generosity and selflessness. She was a beloved daughter, sister, wife, mother, aunt, and granny.

She married her husband Robert Barrett, Sr when she was just 20 years old and spent 39 happy years together. During this time, they adopted their only child Robert Max Barrett, Jr. She was very involved with her church, Good Samaritan Lutheran in Las Vegas, where she volunteered from child care to youth group leader with her loving husband. They were an amazing team and inspiration to many people they met along the way.

They enjoyed visiting her father’s home state of Tennessee at least once a year. She loved her southern cousins, the history, lifestyle and pretty much all things southern. Her favorite movie was Gone with the Wind. So, after receiving her Bachelor of Arts in History from UNLV, Susan, husband Bob, and young Max, moved to the Mississippi Gulf Coast. She was a stay-at-home mom for many years and spent countless hours volunteering for her church and the local Little Theater, which was her husband’s passion, but soon the whole family grew to love. She also spent many years helping her parents with their golf cart business. In recent years she had the pleasure of spending most of her days with her grandchildren. This gave her immeasurable amount of joy and there was nothing she wouldn’t or didn’t do for them. Nothing was more important to Susan than her family.

Susan is proceeded in death by her husband Robert Max Barrett, Sr who passed February 7, 2021, and her father Joe Jackson, who passed January 16, 2021. She is survived by her mother Janet Jackson, brother Jeff (Jen) Jackson, sister Christine (Matt) Phillips, son Robert “Max” (Roxann) Barrett, Jr. and her 4 precious grandchildren Aubrie, Calen, Isaac and Asher. She also leaves behind many cousins, nieces, and nephews who will always remember the kindness shown to them. There are not many family members in our extended family who were not shaped in some way by “Aunt Sue”. Although we grieve our loss, we know she is with our Lord and Savior and is hearing the words she always longed to hear, “Well done, my good and faithful servant”.
