Susan Elizabeth Pope McCrary

Susan Elizabeth Pope McCrary, born April 27, 1929 in Collins, MS to parents Elma and Oliver Clifton Pope, died Saturday, January 2, 2010 after a long battle with cancer. Mrs. McCrary lived in Baton Rouge, LA for 30 years where she was a homemaker, loving wife, mother, and worked several years in retail management. Mrs. McCrary moved to Gulfport in 1986. She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church. She enjoyed family, friends, cooking, gardening, and living on the beautiful Gulf Coast. Mrs. McCrary is preceded in death by her parents; sisters Ina Lee Jorgenson, Marie Stegall, and brother Thomas F. Pope. She is survived by her beloved husband of 61 years James A. McCrary, III; daughter Susan Rebecca Bardwell (Duke) of Destin, FL; sons James Clifton McCrary (Susan) of Houston, TX, Stephen Pope McCrary (Melissa) of Salem, OR; sister Mildred C. Lindner of Leonard Town, MD; five grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. Services will be Tuesday, January 5, 2010 at 11:00am at Bradford-O'Keefe Funeral Home on 15th Street in Gulfport where friends may visit from 10:00am until service time. Burial will follow in Floral Hills Memorial Gardens.
