Susan Frances Figueroa, age 82, of Ocean Springs, passed away Tuesday, December 23, 2014.
Sue was born in Sanford, North Carolina on October 1, 1932. She was the daughter to the late Mr. and Mrs. F. Fritts Gallaher (Aurine). She graduated in 1951 from Tennessee Wesleyan College’s music program and from the University of North Carolina in 1953 with a Bachelor of Arts in American History and Politics. She worked for nearly 30 years as a system analyst for Ferson Optics in Ocean Springs. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Ocean Springs, The Cleophan Club, Jackson County Republican Women, Gulf Coast Symphony Guild, and the Gulf Coast Opera Salon. Sue was an accomplished pianist, an avid reader and enjoyed American history.
She is survived by her husband of 53 years, Roland Davidson Figueroa; daughters, Susan Figueroa DuBose (Dennis) of Birmingham and Cynthia Figueroa (James Kenney) of Dallas; grandchildren, Danielle DuBose, Andrew DuBose, Annabel Calhoun and Lauren Calhoun; siblings, Frank Gallaher (Gayle) of Birmingham, Mary Helen Bayne (Russ) of Ocean Springs, Betty Dodd-Nealy (Carson) of Tampa.
In lieu of flowers the family prefers memorials to be made to First Presbyterian Church of Ocean Springs, 921 Ocean Ave, Ocean Springs, MS 39564.
A funeral service will be held Saturday, December 27, 2014 at First Presbyterian Church of Ocean Springs at 10am. Interment will follow at Evergreen Cemetery. The Howard Avenue Chapel of Bradford-O’Keefe Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
