Susan Elizabeth Sigurnjak

Susan Elizabeth Sigurnjak, also known by those who love her as Momma, Nana, Sue, Sue Sig, 63, of Ocean Springs, MS passed away Saturday, April 8, 2023.

Susan was born January 3, 1960 in Biloxi, MS to Dalton & Barbara Gary. She graduated from Biloxi High School. After graduation she began working at The Peoples Bank. In her free time, she enjoyed reading books while taking long bubble baths, watching soap operas, talking to Ree Ree on the phone, praying with her son, Joel, and going to the beach. Susan loved her family and was dearly loved by them. She was well known at family functions for her homemade cornbread dressing, jell-o cake, and chocolate candies. Her light sense of humor kept everyone at ease and laughing no matter how she was feeling up until her last days on this earth. Her children were her whole world and any time that she had with them was cherished. She loved to play with her grandchildren no matter how hard it was on her body after. She was a light in their lives.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Dalton and Barbara Gary.

Survivors include her son, Joel (Christy) Sigurnjak, and their children; Grace, Caleb, and Joshua; daughter, Cherie (Corey) Champagne; brothers, Joey (Judy) Gary, Scott (Sandy) Gary, Brian Gary; and sisters, Debi (Mike) Manuel, and Sheryl Williams.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the friends and family who have supported us through this hard journey. Including VUMC Cardiology’s support, Ava Gazzo King for setting up a fundraising benefit, and other friends and family support financially, with their time, and donating meals.

A funeral service will be held at 5:00 PM on Sunday, April 16, 2023 at First Baptist Church of Ocean Springs. Friends may visit one hour prior.
