Sylvia Foreman Smith, age 77, was called by her Lord and Savior on November 18, 2015. Sylvia was a devoted wife to her husband, LV Smith and a perfect mother to her six children, Janice Davis and husband Daryl, Donna Howell and husband Keith, Laurie Denton, Matt Smith and wife Rindy, Mark Smith and wife Kristy and Jeffrey Smith. Her 13 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren, to whom she dedicated much of her life, will dearly miss their “Pink” Grandma. Sylvia will be remembered for her genuine kindness, ever present love for life, her unselfish devotion to family and friends, and her love for cooking, most especially her famous seafood gumbo.
Born to the late Sidney and Lucille Foreman in Biloxi, Mississippi, Mrs. Smith was a life-long resident of the Mississippi Gulf Coast, where she assisted with her family’s seafood operations. She married the love of her life, LV Smith, in 1954 and became a stay-at-home wife and mother whose selfless love showed in all she did for her family. As a Biloxi resident she was a faithful member of St. Michaels Catholic Church until moving to Ocean Springs, where she joined the St. Elizabeth Seton Catholic Church family.
Mrs. Smith is preceded in death by her husband, LV Smith; parents, Sidney and Lucille Foreman; best friend and sister, Phyllis Foreman Bosarge; twin-brother, Sidney (Sonny) Foreman; brother, Jimbo Foreman; brother-in-law, Fred Weems; and great grandson, Austin Mallett. She is survived by three brothers, Richard Foreman and wife Sylvia, Kenneth Foreman and wife Patsy, and Billy Foreman and wife Karen; and two sisters, Fran Weems and Mary Skaar; as well as her brother-in-law, Larry Bosarge.
The family would like to extend their sincere appreciation for the love and care of our Mother from the doctors and nurses during her stay in the Ocean Springs SICU.
