Mrs. Arthur E. (Teddy) Richards, Jr., 87, died May 17, 2005 in Brandon, Mississippi. Teddy was born on 27 November 1917 in Harrison County and was a life long resident of the coast except during the period of her husband's service in World War II and during the last three years when she moved to Brandon to be near her family. She graduated from Success High School in 1935 where she was an outstanding basketball player and President of her graduating class. She married A. E. Richards in Biloxi in 1936. They had been married for 64 years when A. E. died in 2000. Teddy was a homemaker and she worked as a practical nurse for several doctors of the coast. She was a member of the Episcopal Church of the Redeemer where she served on the altar guild. She was a member of the Oak Park and the Acacia garden clubs. She was past president of the Exchangettes, a member of the 10th Mountain Division Association Auxiliary, the Revelers carnival organization, the Keesler Officers' Wives Club, and the Retired Officer's Association Auxiliary. She also served as a volunteer for the Boy Scouts of America, the Red Cross, and Keesler AFB Hospital. Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Col and Mrs. Arthur E. Richards (US Army Retired) of Jackson, two grandsons: Arthur E. IV and Zachary and their wives, and five great-grand children. Visitation will be at Bradford-O'Keefe Funeral Home on Howard Avenue from 5:30 pm to 7:30 pm on Sunday evening. A memorial service will be held at the Church of the Redeemer at 9:15 am on Monday, May 23, 2005 followed by burial at the Biloxi National Cemetery at 10:00 am. The family prefers memorials to the Church of the Redeemer, 610 Water Street, Biloxi, Mississippi 39530.
