Terry Miller

Terry Miller, a lifelong resident of Ocean Springs, Mississippi passed away on Tuesday, January 26, 2016. He was born on March 25, 1943 to loving parents Herbert Lee & Ezmer Broome Miller who preceded him in death. Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by his grandparents Mr. & Mrs. R. C. Miller and Mr. & Mrs. H. T. Broome; a twin brother, Jerry Miller; his brother, Percy Miller and sister-in-law, Kay Miller. He is survived by his wife, Thelma Hire Miller; his son, Lee Jordan Miller (Arlene) and grandsons, Hayden Lee Miller and Wesley Jordan Miller and their mother, Monica Miller Marlowe; his sisters, Maudie Miller Storie (Bob) and Virginia Miller Williams (Larry); sister-in-law, Deborrah Miller and Theresa Hire; and many nieces and nephews. Terry was an active member of First Baptist Church in Ocean Springs, served in the Mississippi Army National Guard and was a Life Member of American Legion Post 160 (Pascagoula). He retired in 2015 as Jackson County Chancery Clerk, having served the citizens of Jackson County for more than 18 years. He was a retiree of Mississippi Power Company and a member of Pascagoula Rotary Club, Ocean Springs Lions Club, Ocean Springs/Jackson County Chamber of Commerce and the Jackson County Homebuilders Association. He is a former Jackson County Port Authority Commissioner and was past Director of the Jackson County Economic Development Foundation, Jackson County USM Alumni Association, National Association of Accountants, United Way. He was a graduate of Ocean Springs High School (1961); graduated from the University of Southern Mississippi with a Bachelors Degree in Accounting and William Carey College where he received his Masters Degree in Business Administration. Known as “Pop” to his grandsons, Terry loved spending time with Hayden and Wesley, teaching them how to fish and ride bikes among many other things. Terry was a kind and compassionate man who found inspiration and direction in his life by reading Bible passages daily. He was a faithful friend to many. Visitation will be held on Friday, January 29, 2016 from 9:00 am - 11:00 am at First Baptist Church, 602 Washington Avenue, Ocean Springs, Mississippi. The service will begin at 11:00 am. Interment will follow at Evergreen Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family desires memorials be given to Home of Grace (Men’s Home) 14200 Jericho Road, Vancleave, MS. The Ocean Springs Chapel of Bradford-O’Keefe Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
