Thad Geter, a devoted man of faith, a loving father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, went home to be with the Lord on February 25, 2025. He was born in Natchitoches, Louisiana, to Thad Monroe Geter and Jettie S. Geter and was the youngest of nine children. He was preceded in death by his parents; siblings; his son, John David Gete; his son in law, Larry Lawrence; and his grandson, David Lawrence.
A man who built his life on faith, family, and hard work; his greatest treasure was his faith, and his greatest passion was sharing his love for God through music. A talented musician and singer, he found his greatest joy in making music with his children, filling their lives with songs of worship, hope, and love. His voice and melodies became a lasting testimony of his faith, one that will continue to echo through generations.
He is survived by his children, Sandra Lawrence, Mike and Rhonda Geter, Robin and Darnell Davis, Sheila and Jimmy Horton, Patty Geter, Daniel and Tammy Geter, Timothy and Kedra Geter, and Aaron and Lizbet Geter. His legacy of love and faith lives on through his 24 grandchildren and 22 great- grandchildren, who will forever carry the lessons he instilled in them.
Thad loved fishing, finding peace in the quiet waters, and often spoke of God's goodness in the beauty of creation. His life was a reflection of the songs he sang-full of faith, love, and an unwavering trust in the Lord. While his presence will be deeply missed, his family rejoices in knowing he is now singing in the heavenly choir, reunited with loved ones who went before him. His legacy will live on in the music, faith, and love he left behind.
A memorial service will be held at 12 pm on Wednesday, March 5, 2025 at New Life Family Church in Biloxi. Friends are invited to visit from 11 am to 12 pm.
