Theda Inez Teague, age 87, passed away on Sunday, July 9, 2023. She was in the comfort of her own home and surrounded by her loved ones who promised to never leave her.
Theda was born on June 13, 1936, to Arnold and Mattie Fay Whitt. She was a proud Texan from Copperas Cove of Port Arthur. She attended Copperas Cove High School and graduated from Beauty College. Theda loved everything. She enjoyed being outdoors, bowling, and was getting into cornhole before becoming sick.
Theda was the sweetest lady I have ever met. She moved to the coast after traveling and marrying her husband, Claude Emory Teague. Theda was a stay-at-home military wife. They built their home here and she stayed after Claude's passing. She lived her life to the fullest each day. Age did not matter to her. Cooking or making coffee was her number one go to for anyone who stepped foot into her home. You did not leave hungry or thirsty. There wasn’t a person who did not love Theda once they met her. She loved playing with her granddaughter, Alyssia. When Alyssia was riding scooters, Theda was right beside her. She did not care if she was in her 80s. “Gran Gran” was one of a kind. Those who crossed her path will never forget her or that kind, warm smile.
We did it Dad! We made her final wishes of being home happen. I love you both and would never change anything. Hand clap for us!
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Solace Hospice's Valerie Tran and Andrea Craft for the amazing care they provided to Theda.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Claude Emory Teague; parents, Arnold Whitt and Mattie Fay Whitt; and sister, Freda Cockrell.
Theda is survived by her only child, Douglas “Rhett” Teague; grandchildren, Dustin Teague, Ashli Teague, and Allison White; great grandchildren, Michael Adrian Maniaci and Alyssia Lynn Ramos; sister, Arlene Wiley; and best friend, Denise Price.
A graveside service will be held at 2:30 PM on Friday, July 14, 2023, at the Biloxi National Cemetery.
