Thomas Anthony Brunow, 95, of Saucier, MS passed away peacefully February 28th, 2023.
Mr. Brunow was born on September 10, 1927 to his parents, Jules Henry Brunow, Sr. and Harriette V. Doyle Brunow in Pawling, NY, and resided in Biloxi, MS since 1958. Mr. Brunow was married to the late Lillian M. Elliot Brunow and was a loving husband for 60 years and wonderful father to their three children.
Mr. Brunow was a Korean War Veteran having served in the United States Air Force (1950-1970), retiring as Master Sergeant in Security Forces as Security Police Superintendent with a unit of the Air Training Command.
During his service, Mr. Brunow was one of three awarded The Airman's Medal for heroism for voluntary risk of life during the height of Hurricane Camille when they evacuated a Keesler dependent invalid wife and two children from the flooding waters inside their home. Other service decorations received include the Korean Service Medal, United Nations Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, The Meritorious Service Medal, and other commendations.
Mr. Brunow was an avid outdoorsman-hunting, fishing, and in his youth, trapping. He loved nature and wildlife.
Mr. Brunow was an amazing and dearly loved brother, uncle, father, and grandfather. He will be remembered as a family-oriented, quick-witted, and strong-willed man who always had incredible stories to tell. In his retirement, he enjoyed taking on jobs at the Gulf Hills Hotel in Ocean Springs, MS where he offered his help no matter the task. He was the handyman with all the solutions. He and his late wife, Lillian, enjoyed spending time with family and quiet times with each other at their Biloxi home. He has left his mark in our hearts, our lives, and our memories. He will be greatly missed, and his memories will be cherished and kept alive in our hearts forever.
Mr. Brunow is preceded in death by his wife, Lillian Brunow; parents, Jules Henry Brunow, Sr. and Harriette V. Doyle Brunow; son, Steven E. Brunow; sisters, Marie Brunow, Helen Brunow and Harriette Ragnetti (Michael); brothers Jules H. Brunow Jr., Joseph R. Brunow, and Francis R. Brunow; 3 nieces; and 1 nephew.
Mr. Brunow is survived by his sister, Veronica C. Brunow Daniels (Eugene) and their five children of Pawling, NY; son, Thomas H. "Buzz" Brunow (Sandy) and their three children of Cape Coral, FL; daughter-in-law, Ellen (Steven) and her daughter and son-in-law; daughter, Teresa "Tracy" R. (Dan) Finerman of Saucier, MS and their five children; eight grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; 10 paternal nephews and six nieces; and many other loving family members.

A service celebrating the life of Thomas A. Brunow will be held at Bradford-O'Keefe Funeral Home, 675 Howard Avenue in Biloxi, on Friday, March 17, 2023 at 12:30 p.m. Friends are invited to visit from 11:30 a.m. until service time. A graveside service will follow at Biloxi National Cemetery.
