Thomas Denton Harris

Mr. Thomas D. Harris, age 80, of Ocean Springs, MS., died Thursday, January 24, 2008, in Ocean Springs. He was preceded in death by a sister, Opal Harris McNeil and brothers, Hudson Harris, Ben Harris, and Carl Harris. Mr. Harris was born in Pineville, MS., and had been a resident of Ocean Springs for the past 41 years. He was a retired US Navy Veteran serving in WWII and the Korean Conflict. He also retired from Ingalls Shipbuilding. Mr. Harris was an active member of the First Baptist Church in Gautier. Survivors include his wife, Wini Harris of Ocean Springs, MS., daughter, Lynda Harris Masters and husband Steve, of Phoenix, AZ., son, Ben L. Harris and wife, Misty, of George County, MS., sister, Eleanor Harris Carr of Gautier, MS., and grandchildren, Andra Harris, Grant Masters, Audrey Masters, Emma Harris and Elanor Harris. Visitation will be on Monday, January 28, 2008, from 9 AM - 11 AM, with an 11 AM church service, all at the First Baptist Church of Gautier. Burial will follow in Biloxi National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family prefers donations be sent to the Music Ministry of First Baptist Church of Gautier, 325 De La Pointe Drive, Gautier, MS., 39553, or to the American Cancer Society. The Ocean Springs Chapel of Bradford O'Keefe Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
