Thomas Arthur "Tommy" Newman

Thomas Arthur "Tommy" Newman, 90, of Biloxi, MS passed away on Monday, September 2, 2024 in Biloxi. 

Mr. Newman was born in Biloxi on December 3, 1933 to Martin Alphonse "Capt. Tan" Newman and Ruth Frances Gibson Newman. He graduated from Notre Dame High School, Cincinnati College of Mortuary Services and the National Foundation of Business Services of Evaston, IL. He was past president of the Biloxi Kiwanis Club and the Harrison County Chapter March of Dimes for eight years. Mr. Newman was also past president of South Mississippi Sportsman Association. He was the past director of Jackson County and Harrison County Emergency Medical Service, aka AmServ Ambulance Service, past charter boat captain, past commercial fisherman, past manager of Bradford-O'Keefe Funeral Home and past camp master at Lazy 9 Hunting Camp. Mr. Newman served eight years as a Reservist in the U.S. Navy. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and taxidermy. 

He was preceded in death by his wife, Ann Grace Jelusich Newman; his parents; his granddaughter, Candice Maria Newman, daughter of John and Bernadette Newman; and his siblings, Marguerite Estelle Newman, Herbert George Newman, Helen Ruth Newman, Delphine Budine, Lillian McDonnell, Willard Andrew Newman, Nettie Mae Riddle, Paul Newman, Miriam Eulalie Trotta, Leona Lesko and Donald "DJ" Newman. 

Mr. Newman's survivors include his children, Fran (Quention) Stanovich, Mark (Dianne Deno, life partner) and Dian Newman, daughter-in-law, John (Bernadette) Newman, Matthew (Winky) Newman and Luke (Teresa) Newman; his grandchildren, Ashlei, Jobe, Brooke, Hope, Kahlee, Brianna, Amanda, Matthew, Andrew and Jordan; and his great-grandchildren, Henli, Harper, Kylie, Martin, Lance, Amelia, Jacob, Eli, Beckham, Brice, Brinley and Dane. 

The family wishes to extend a special thanks to the Yellowstone Care Unit staff, the caregivers at the Biloxi VA Health Care Center and Dr. Mary Cook. 

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Christ the King Catholic Church on Monday, September 9, 2024 at 11:00 am. Friends may visit from 9:30 am until Mass time. A private graveside service will be held at Biloxi National Cemetery at a later date.
