Thomas Rutledge “Rut” Parker died on August 3, 2018. Rut was born in New Orleans on August 20, 1933. He was the son of Thomas Airey Parker and Sally Gray Parker. Rut attended St. Paul’s Prep School and received an academic scholarship to Duke University where he received a degree in English. He also excelled in sports including soccer and lightweight boxing. After college, Rut served as a Navigator in the US Navy for several years. He then moved back to the Gulf Coast where he became the owner of Breath’s Boats and Motors in Bay St. Louis. Rut was known for his sense of humor, ability to tell a story and his kindness to others. Rut also spent over 40 years raising, breeding, showing and judging Pembroke Welsh Corgis on an international level.
Rut leaves behind his loving wife Mary Nash, his son Gray C. Parker, and daughter Alexa Parker Crenshaw (Tee). He has 4 grandchildren including Melissa Parker, Matthew Parker, Parker Crenshaw and Melanie Febbraro (Anthony). Also, Rut has 2 great grandchildren including Jack and Charlie Febbraro.
Funeral services will be at the Trinity Episcopal Church in Pass Christian on Saturday, September 29th at 2:00 pm with visitation following. In lieu of flowers, please feel free to contribute to your favorite charity or Operation Smile.
