Thomas Walter Stenum was born January 24th, 1960 in Sioux City, Iowa and departed this life November 13th, 2011 in Meridian, Mississippi. Thomas (Tommy) Walter Stenum was preceded in death by his father Thomas H. Stenum, brother Alan T. Stenum, Sr. and grandparents Porter and Mary Hazard, Mary Cook and Leonard Stenum. Tommy is survived by his mother, Grace Hazard Stenum of Biloxi, brother, Lugene P. Stenum and wife Pamela of Biloxi, sister, Mary Sullivan Francisco and husband Gary of Sarasota, Florida, nephews and nieces, Gene Paul Stenum and wife Angie of Biloxi, Alan T. Stenum, Jr. and wife Erin of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Patricia Weinbaum of Sarasota, Florida, Crystal Sullivan of Sarasota, Florida, Amber Peltier of Ocean Springs, Tara Minton and husband Danny of Long Beach, California, Clifford Crosby and wife Melissa of Biloxi, Michelle Tiblier and husband Troy of St. Martin, and many great nieces and nephews. Being an Air Force “Brat”, he lived many places but most of his early life was lived in Merritt Island, Florida. He graduated from Merritt Island High School in 1978. Tommy moved to Biloxi in 1986 and became a licensed Professional Land Surveyor in 1999. He was employed by L.P. Stenum Surveying Co. until April 2011 at which time he had open heart surgery with a double bypass and aorta valve replacement. Tommy had been a heart patient since 1995 with a total of 10 stents placed. Tommy requested to be cremated and a memorial service will be held on Thursday, November 17, 2011 at 10:00 A.M., with visitation from 9 to 10 A.M., at Coalville United Methodist Church in Biloxi. At a future date, the family will carry his cremains to Florida Memorial Gardens in Brevard County, Florida for a graveside service and interment. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to Coalville United Methodist Church Youth Fund, 12298 Shorecrest Road, Biloxi, MS 39532. Tommy will be sadly missed by loving family and friends. The Ocean Springs Chapel of Bradford O'Keefe Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
