Tommy Gene Phillips Sr., 67 of Saucier, MS, received his angel wings and rite to enter the pearly gates to meet our heavenly father Thursday, May 20,2010, in Gulfport, MS, after several long illnesses. He was born on May 29, 1942 in Metter, Georgia to Thomas and Sara Jane Phillips. He lived in the Savannah, Georgia area for most of his life. He married Betty C Howse on October 19, 1971. They moved to the MS. Gulf Coast in 1976. Mr. Phillips served in the U. S. Navy from 1961 to 1965. He had many professions; printer for the Savannah Morning News, manger of 7-11 Food Stores, and operator for Reichhold Chemical until he became disabled in 1986. He enjoyed and loved doing wood crafts in his spare time. He is survived by his lovely wife Betty and six children; Sheri and Terry Cutter of Saucier, MS, Guerry and Susan Phillips of Savannah, GA, Teresa Edney of Satellite Beach, FL, Kim and Glen Chatham of Biloxi, MS, Tommy Jr. & Louise Phillips of Hephzibah, GA, Jerry & Amanda Phillips of Joanna, SC and his mother-in-law Mildred Hughes of Saucier, MS. He has 13 grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, many brothers & sisters by marriage, and many nieces & nephews . He was preceded in death by his father Thomas Phillips, mother Sara Jane Arnold and his step-father Robert Arnold, and by his best friend, partner-in-crime & father-in-law Joseph P Hughes SR. A special thank you to Dr Reza Motakhaveri. Visitation is Monday, May 24, 2010, from 7 until 9 p.m. at Bradford-O'Keefe Funeral Home, O'Neal Road, in Gulfport. Funeral services are Tuesday, at 1 p.m. in the funeral home chapel. Interment will follow at Biloxi National Cemetery.
