Tommy Luther Underwood, 59, of D’Iberville, MS passed away on Friday, April 7, 2017 in Gulfport.
Tommy was a native of Gainesville, GA. He was stationed at many different military bases before calling D’Iberville his home. He retired as a Captain from the U.S. Air Force after 20 years of service and from the State of Mississippi as a psychologist for South Mississippi Regional Center after 21 years of service. He enjoyed coaching his children in baseball, fishing and camping, but hunting was his passion. Tommy also enjoyed traveling with his wife and going to the Blue Grass Festivals in the Georgia mountains. His 5 beautiful grandchildren were his everything.
He is preceded in death by his son, Robert A. Underwood; his parents, Harvey Luther Underwood and Annie Sue Tanner Roberts; his mother-in-law, Magdalena Haro; and his niece Shonda Husley.
Tommy’s survivors include his wife of 37 years, Maria D. Underwood; his sons, Tommy Shane Underwood, Aaron Seth Underwood and Michael Luther (Nicole) Underwood; his grandchildren, Savannah, Dawson, Payton, Jacob and Aiden; his sister, Martha (Tom) Nguyen; his father-in-law, Miguel Haro; his sisters-in-law, Janie Martini and Carmen Bradford and their spouses; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held at the Howard Avenue Chapel of Bradford-O’Keefe Funeral Home on Tuesday, April 11, 2017 from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm and on Wednesday, April 12, 2017 from 9:30 am until 10:30 am followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church at 11:00 am. Interment will follow at Biloxi National Cemetery.
