Tony Maniphone Basy

March 19, 1972 — February 23, 2025

Ocean Springs

Tony Maniphone Basy or "Mani", "Spanky", "Kung", 52, of Ocean Springs, MS, spent his whole life battling his heart condition with many ups and downs. He passed away on Sunday, February 23, 2025.

Tony was a husband, a father, a son, a brother, and a friend.

Tony was born on March 19, 1972 in Vientiane, Laos. He moved to New Orleans when he was a young boy and went to school there and got his GED. In his early twenties, he decided he wanted to be a casino card dealer. He moved down to the Mississippi coast and started taking a card class. He started off at the casino Lady Luck and later, went to deal cards at the Beau Rivage Casino in Biloxi. He worked there for over 25 years and was very loved there. Tony loved listening to music and would always play his favorite songs around his friends and family. All songs ranging from heart wrenching love songs to 80’s rockstar and lots of Thai and Laos pop songs. He loved to sing his heart out when we would have house parties and was always very creative with activities that he would come up with doing inside the house. He always knew how to fix everything before asking anyone for help.

Tony knew how to light up every room he walked into. He was always so quick and witty when cracking jokes and always knew what to say. His advice was always on point. Tony described himself as easygoing and truthful. His family, friends, and himself called him hard-headed but that’s what made him stand out from everyone else and made us love him even more. He knew how to bring people together. Those that showed hate he showed them how to love. Tony Maniphone Basy will never be forgotten, and his legacy will live in our hearts forever.

Tony is survived by his mother, Tingkeo Basy; his wife, Keophilavane Basy; his daughter, Kelly Basy; his brothers, Khamsing Basy and Mangkone Basy; his cousin, Don Chandakham; his many step-brothers; and his many nieces and nephews.

The funeral service will be held at Bradford-O'Keefe Funeral Home in Ocean Springs, Mississippi at 1pm on Saturday, March 1st, 2025. Friends are invited to visit one hour prior.
