Towana Gail Brown Smith

Towana Brown Smith, 75 of Ocean Springs, MS passed away on Tuesday, May 30, 2023.

She was born on July 28, 1947 in Brookhaven, MS to Edwin and Mildred Brown. She was a resident of Ocean Springs for fifty plus years. She graduated from Moss Point High School in 1965 where she stood out as head majorette, excelled in concert piano and string base. She attended Perkinston Jr. College and Southern Miss. She was a part of the Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society. She has been active and has enjoyed her Beach Garden Club, Gulf Hills Garden Club, and her church bible study of the First Presbyterian Church. She was a devoted wife and mother. She will be missed by all.

Towana was preceded in death by her parents, Edwin and Mildred Brown; child, Bradford Charles; and sister, Gwen Bryner.

She is survived by her husband of fifty-three years, Dr. Charles A. Smith; child, Rhome Edwin Smith; three grandchildren; and siblings, Dolaris Higgins, Schewida Farragut, and Dean Brown.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, June 3, 2023 at First Presbyterian Church of Ocean Springs. Friends may visit one hour prior. Burial will follow at Crestlawn Memorial Park.
