TSgt. James Duane Wood

TSgt. James Duane Wood “Jimmie to his sisters & Woody to others”, age 87, of Biloxi, passed away on Friday, February 26, 2021. He was born on November 26, 1933 in Suit “Cherokee County” NC to Charlie and Lexi Allen Wood. Mr. Wood was a longtime resident of the Gulf Coast. He retired at Keesler AFB in 1973 after 20 years of service. He owned ABC Janitorial Service, worked at the V.A. for 13 years as a civil service worker, and was an active member of Ramsey Creek Baptist Church of Saucier. He loved his children, grandkids, and extended family very much. He enjoyed being part of Crusin' the Coast with his son Ronnie for the last 15 years, an active life of fishing, going to the mountains, yard work, and many pets & racoons! He was preceded in death by his parents, loving wife, Elsie Wood. Survivors include his five children: Debra Standridge (Quinton Denney), Randy Wood, Rickie Wood, Ronnie Wood, and Tammy Wood; two grandchildren, Samantha Porter (Jeff), Tiffany Payne (Scott); six great grandchildren: Zareena Turner, Brianna Mallory, Tyler Mallory, Ashley Porter, Aaryanna Porter, and Damien LaGuardia; three great great grandchildren: Braxton, Zahra, and Hazel; two sisters: Linda Wood and Lina Prince; sister-in-law, Shirley Richards; and two special nieces Ashley & Stephanie. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, March 3, 2021 from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Bradford-O’Keefe Funeral Home, Howard Avenue in Biloxi. Interment will take place in Friendship Baptist Cemetery in Murphy, North Carolina at 1pm on Saturday, March 6, 2021. Bradford-O’Keefe Funeral Home is honored to serve the Wood family.
