TSGT. Louis S. Cantrell (Retired), age 86 of Delisle, died Friday, June 20, 2008 in Gulfport. He was born July 14, 1921 in Lynn, MA and was a resident of the Gulf Coast for over 25 years. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and was on the USS Bayfield during the invasion of Normandy. Mr. Cantrell also served in the U.S Air Force during the Korean War and retired from the Air Force. He served in the Merchant Marines during the Vietnam War.
He married his loving wife Norma F. Bonney Cantrell on Valentine Day 1987 and resided in Delisle until his death. He was a longtime member of the VFW in D'Iberville.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Florence Lawton Cantrell; sisters, Ruby Hutchins, Vera Lovering, Priscilla Hyatt, and Jeanette Nottingham; and brothers, Melvin Cantrell and William Cantrell.
He is survived by his wife, Norma F. Bonney Cantrell of Delisle; three step-daughters, Patricia K. Lee and husband, Lavelle of Poplarville, Mary Moran and husband, Dale of Pass Christian, and Beverly Parker and husband, Walter of Lizana; two step-sons, Michael Bonney and wife, Linda of Long Beach and Henry L. Bonney and wife, Patricia of Pass Christian; 15 step-grandchildren; and 24 step-great grandchildren.
The graveside service will be held Monday, June 23, 2008 at
2:30 p.m. at Biloxi National Cemetery will full military honors.
The family prefers memorials to one's favorite charity.
