Velma Ann Baker

Mrs. Velma Ann Baker, 77, of Biloxi, died Saturday, October 23, 2021, at Ocean Springs Hospital.

Mrs. Baker was born December 17, 1943 at Point Cadet in Biloxi, MS and was a lifelong resident of the Gulf Coast. She is the daughter of the late Noah and Zoway (Broussard) Demet, of Biloxi, and sister of the late John Rogers Demet of Pensacola, Florida.

Velma was a devoted and lifelong parishioner of St. Michael Parish, where she received all of her sacraments and served on the Altar Society and the St. Vincent de Paul Society.

Mrs. Baker is survived by her husband of 59 years, Ronald J. Baker, Sr., of Biloxi; one daughter, Cynthia (Kenneth) Powell; and five sons: David (Lyn) Baker, Larry (Dayna) Baker, Ronald J. Baker, Jr., Thomas (Kelly) Baker and John (Kim) Baker, all of Biloxi; nine grandchildren: Michael, Brian, Breann, Kevin, Brent, Ben, Dylan, Steven and Jason; and six great-grandchildren: Lillyana, Jayden, Baylee, Aspen, Kai and Alexei.

With heartfelt appreciation and deepest gratitude, the family would like to thank our family and friends for all of the support and kindness shown to us. We especially thank the clergy and parishioners of St. Michael Parish and the staff of SAAD’S Home Health Care and Ocean Springs Hospital for their loving care and devotion.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Michael Catholic Church on Friday, October 29, 2021 at 11:00 AM. Friends may visit one hour prior to Mass. Interment will follow at D’Iberville Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in Velma’s name to the St. Vincent de Paul Society, St. Michael Conference, 177 First Street, Biloxi, MS 39530.
