Vera Pike Parker, 83 years of age, of Gautier, surrounded by her loving family, went home to the Lord on May 2.2009. She is survived by her husband of 58 years, Scott M. Parker; sons Glenn W. Parker of Lake Mary, FL, Scott B. Parker of Mobile, AL, Bruce D. Parker of Columbia, SC; daughters Joan B. Tuite of Gautier, MS and Elizabeth A. Smith of Brick, NJ., as well as, her brother Robert E. Pike of Andover, MA. Her beloved grandchildren are Stephanie N. Feldmann and Sara L. Tuite of Gautier, MS; Lauren M. Smith and Collin P. Smith of Brick, NJ; Sophia E. Parker of Lake Mary. FL and Katey M. Parker of Columbia, SC. Vera was born in Somerville, MA on September 30, 1925. She was preceded in death by her parents, Cyril A. and Cicley J. Pike of Dover, NH; her brothers Lloyd Pike, Roland Pike, Nelson Pike, Clifford Pike and her sister Flora Finlayson. Vera graduated from the Wentworth Hospital the School of Nursing in Dover, NH on February 9, 1951 and was a Registered Nurse in both New Hampshire and Illinois. She was an active member of the First United Methodist Church in Gautier. Her hobbies included oil painting, numerous arts and crafts, fishing and camping. She also enjoyed spending time with her family. She was a loving and dedicated mother of five children and a devoted and caring wife. She was a good friend to many. She took pleasure in volunteering her time and efforts to any one in need. The memories and the joy and laughter she emanated will live on forever in our hearts. She will be terribly missed by all those that knew and loved her. A Memorial Service will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 7, 2009 at First United Methodist Church of Gautier, where friends may visit one hour prior to service. Funeral Service will be conducted by the Reverend M. L. McConnick and the Reverend James Slater. In Lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Alzheimer's Association or to the Building Fund of Gautier First United Methodist Church. The family wishes to extend special thanks to the Gulf Coast Hospice for the attention and care they provided to the person we loved so dearly.
