Verne B. Lamas has entered into her eternal resting place. Born in New Orleans, LA, to Albert and Teresa Bakeler, she grew up in Biloxi and later graduated from Sacred Heart Academy and Hotel Dieu School of Nursing in New Orleans. She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold "Flash" Lamas; her parents; and a very special cousin, Mildred Bakeler Komoserik.
Verne is survived by her greatest accomplishments in life, her three children, Cathy Wiltz, Tommy and Jimmy Lamas, and their spouses, Tommy, Carmen, and Jennifer respectively. She is also survived by four grandchildren, Katie and J. Wiltz, Joseph Lamas and his wife, Taylor, and Jessica Cordera and her husband, Johnny; two great-grandchildren, Henry James Lamas and Josie Catharina Cordera. Each one had their own special place in her heart.
She enjoyed nursing for approximately 40 years in various hospitals along the Gulf Coast, eventually ending her career as an instructor in the practical nursing program at the Jefferson Davis campus of MGCCC. After retirement, she enjoyed life as long as she was able - traveling, volunteering, and helping in her church parish. Memories were made at Paul B Johnson State Park with her family and friends.
Special thanks to Barbara Ann and Steve Bullard (even though he is an Alabama fan!) for the exceptional loving care and compassion they showed her during her last three months.
