Mr. Vernon "T-Boy" Sablich, 80, of Biloxi, MS, died Friday, July 15, 2005, at the Ocean Springs Hospital of pneumonia.
"T-Boy" was born in Biloxi on August 27, 1924 to George and Irma Sablich. He was a lifelong resident of Biloxi where he met and married his wife of 48 years, Maxine Delaune. He was a member of Nativity B.V.M. Cathedral Parish and graduated from Sacred Heart Academy, class of 1942. "T-Boy" was active in all high school sports and was a charter member and active player with the Galloping Gaels, the coast's only independent football team which was organized in 1948.
"T-Boy" served in the U. S. Army's artillery battalion during WW II. he was an active member of Biloxi Elks Lodge #606 as well as the Slavic Benevolent Society.
He loved and enjoyed everything about living in Biloxi. He enjoyed and was an active fisherman, hunter and everything about being outdoors. He often spoke of growing up in Biloxi and the enjoyment he experienced joining his many friends dancing the night away with his lifelong dance partner, Maxine. He continued his love of dancing on the coast through his later years and often spoke of going dancing in his final days.
Vernon was preceded in death by his wife of 48 years, Maxine Delaune Sablich; his parents, George and Irma Sablich and a brother, Harold Sablich.
Survivors include his sisters, Delores Barras and Germaine Lyons. He was the beloved father of two daughters, Karen Gladney and her husband, Dean, of Ocean Springs and Patti Meaut and her husband, Wally, of Woolmarket; two sons, Craig Sablich and his wife, Janae, of Mandeville, LA and Joe Sablich and his wife, Kim, of Jonesboro, AR; eight grandchildren, Kristi Meaut Gilbert, Carly Gladney O'Bryant, Kelly and Casey Gladney, Keith and Candance Meaut, Brooke Sablich and Savanna Sablich; one great grandson, Nicholas Brent Gilbert and one great granddaughter, Makenziee Claire Gilbert. He is also survived by his pet Yorkie, "Boomer".
Visitation is Monday, July 18, 2005, from 6 to 9 p. m. at the Howard Avenue Chapel of Bradford-O'Keefe Funeral Homes in Biloxi with a Rosary at 7 p.m. A procession will leave the funeral home at 10:45 a. m. Tuesday for a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. at Nativity B.V.M. Catholic Cathedral.. Interment will follow in Southern Memorial Park.
