Vernon Wayne King

Mr. Vernon W. King, 50, of the Vestry Community, passed away peacefully in his sleep Sunday, February 15, 2009. Vernon was born in California and lived in Mississippi since he was 16 years old. He was employed with Jackson County Road Department. Vernon was a loving husband and father; a hard worker, an avid fisherman and friend to everyone he met. He will be greatly missed, and although Vernon is no longer with us his legacy of caring and friendship will live on in all of our hearts. He was preceded in death by his mother, Cecil Lamas King, and father, Ben S. King. He leaves behind his wife and friend of more than 24 years, Aleatha "Lea" Allen King; daughters, Anne (Alex Zirlott) King, and Jessica King of Vestry; sisters, Rachel (James) Loew of Bay St. Louis and Virginia (Tim) Stewart of Perkinston; brothers, Ben King and Sammie King of Ramsay Community; sisters-in-law, Margaret (Alden) Willis of Tacoma, WA and Mary Muffler of Saucier; brothers-in-law, Chris (Valrie Gately) Allen and Doug (Annette Stanley) Allen; nephew and fishing buddy, DJ Allen; Cousin, Louis King of Escatawpa; and many nieces and nephews. Vernon also had many dear friends whom he adopted and loved like family, including Pete and Valerie Bains, Allen and Tammy Prevost, Donis Wilson, Jason Albritton, Robert and Rhonda Carroll, the Burton family, the Wilkerson family, Kevin Burnham, Johnny and Carol Ridout, Joe Berry and so many, many more. Memorial services will be 7:30 pm. Wednesday, February 18, 2009, at Bradford-O'Keefe Funeral Home, Howard Avenue, in Biloxi where friends may visit from 5 p.m. until service time.
