Vester Ray Bassham, Sr.

Mr. Vester Ray Bassham, Sr., age 59, of Ocean Springs, MS., died Monday, March 21, 2005, in Ocean Springs. Mr. Bassham was an offshore captain for many years. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and served in Vietnam from 1966-1972. He loved his life on the Mississippi Gulf Coast especially boating and fishing. He was preceded in death by his parents, Willie Vester and Margaret Herrin Bassham, brother, Lonnie Bassham, sister, Marie Herrin, and nephew, Thomas Pounds. Mr. Bassham is survived by his wife LaVone "Bonnie" Bassham of Ocean Springs, sons, Vester R. (Sonya) Bassham, Jr. and Willie V. (Dana) Bassham, all of Gautier, MS., Jay Patterson of Kenner, LA., daughters, Marie Odom of Gulfport, Joan Andri of Jacksonville, FL., Lavone Lollar of Ocean Springs, Deanna Duncan of Biloxi, and seventeen grandchildren. Private services will be held at a later date.
