Vicky was born in Kansas City, MO to James and Alice Moran. The oldest of 6, she sure had her hands full helping around the house, and learning how to cook for the household. She graduated from Douglas High School in 1975 and enjoyed being a member of the dance team. Her favorite job was a local pizza restaurant where they ended the nights with dough ball fights. She loved eating Mexican at the Triangle, and she loved pestering her siblings. If you want hear a funny story, ask her sister about the roller skates in the closet. Soon after graduation, she moved to Gautier, MS where she set her sights on one of the largest employers on the coast.
Vicky began her career at Ingalls Shipbuilding on September 21, 1976 and dedicated 45-years of service retiring as a master shipbuilder. During her career at Ingalls, she worked in Operations supporting Ships Management (LHA/LHD) and in Central Planning the departments where she played an integral role in the production of the naval vessels that are vital to our national defense. She received several TAP awards during her career for significant operational improvement and increased customer satisfaction.
Throughout her career, Vicky was known for her strong work ethic, attention to detail, and unwavering commitment to excellence. Her passion for shipbuilding not only shaped her own life, but also inspired those around her. Vicky was a proud Ingalls Shipbuilder, and she will be missed by her shipbuilding family.
She is preceded in death by her parents, James Chester Moran (Chris) and Alice June Brown (Larry;) and her grandparents, Ervin & Dorothy Fain, and Peter James & Edith Moran.
She is survived by her daughter, Melissa Michelli (Frank); her grandchildren, Aiden Jones, Shannon Michelli, and Sherri McCaskill (Dakota); 3 Great Grandchildren; Her four brothers, Jim Moran (Hannah), Keith Moran (Christina), Shawn Moran (Penny), Ken Moran (Linda); her sister, Regina Moran; and numerous Nieces, Nephews, Great Nieces, and Great Nephews.
Services will be held by Fr. Mike Sommers, Fr. Satish Adhav, and Fr. George Murphy on Saturday, November 23rd, 2024 at St John the Evangelist Catholic Church, 2414 17th St Gulfport, MS 39501. Visitation will be at 9am and Mass at 10am. Refreshments will be immediately following in the Parish Hall at 11am. Interment will be at a later date at D’Iberville Memorial Park.
